Several Boy Scouts from Troop 51 spent a recent Saturday morning painting over a graffiti-covered wall in La Mesa.

DSC09074webThe wall on El Cajon Boulevard between St. Martin of Tours Academy and BHM Italian restaurant was a frequent target for graffiti vandals and had been painted an array of colors in an effort to hide unwanted spray paint. While they were at it, the boys also painted a dozen benches for students at St. Martin of Tours Academy.

DSC09084webTroop 51 has a long history in La Mesa. It was originally chartered in 1921 and has been continuously chartered through St. Martin of Tours Parish since 1947. The troop meets in the Parish Hall every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Visitors are always welcome.
